Highlight Notes Free is designed to work without a Highlight Notes account or developer operated cloud storage.

Information handled by the extension

The extension handles the text you choose to highlight, notes you add, highlight colours, webpage titles and webpage addresses. It also stores your preferences, such as websites where the selection button is disabled.

Where your information is stored

Highlight Notes Free stores this information locally in your browser profile. Rochak Agrawal does not receive or store your highlights, notes, browsing history or Raindrop token. The extension does not use analytics, advertising trackers or sell personal information.

Optional Raindrop integration

If you enable one way Raindrop sync, the extension sends the relevant webpage address, title, highlighted text, highlight colour and any attached note directly from your browser to Raindrop using the personal token you provide. Your token stays in local browser storage. Raindrop processes that information under its own privacy policy.

Website access

The extension needs permission to run on webpages so it can detect your selected text and restore saved highlights. This includes supported web applications such as Gmail, ChatGPT and GitHub. It acts only when providing the highlighting features and does not send entire page contents to the developer.

Your choices and deletion

You can delete individual highlights, export a backup or clear the extension data from your browser. Uninstalling the extension removes its locally stored data according to your browser's normal extension data handling. Information previously sent to Raindrop may also need to be managed in your Raindrop account.

Highlight Notes Pro

Pro is only a proposed future service. Highlight Notes Free does not currently send data to a Highlight Notes cloud service. Any future Pro launch will include a separate explanation of its security, storage and subscription terms before users can opt in.
